Vargouille is an anti-fascist D&D-inspired hardcore punk band from Edmonton, Alberta, who proudly call themselves concerned denizens of the Forgotten Realms while blending fast, aggressive hardcore with fantasy lore, epic storytelling, and unapologetic political rage. Formed by a group of friends who infuse their music with Dungeons & Dragons themes, magic, dragons, and heroic defiance, the band channels their love of tabletop role-playing games into high-energy songs that tackle fascism, resistance, and personal struggle with raw intensity and tongue-in-cheek fantasy flair. Led by vocalist Hendrik Wraithsbane alongside guitarists Erurainon Eraisuithon Beriothien and Scorching Ray, bassist PartheNeon Borealis, and drummer Baron Von Drakonus, Vargouille delivers short, brutal, and catchy tracks that feel like battle anthems from a campaign against evil. Their releases include the 2022 EP Dark Gods and the 2023 EP Oathbreaker, featuring songs such as “Cruel Hand,” “Dragon Fire,” “Star Ghost,” “Man Drinker,” and “Heroes Don’t Run.” Known for their fiery live shows and zero-tolerance stance against hate, Vargouille continues to rally fans with pro-magic, anti-fascist hardcore that is as fun as it is ferocious.
