Blood Opera is a Toronto-based horror-themed hard rock and heavy metal band that describes its sound as “Dead Metal” and “Cannibal Glam,” combining theatrical stagecraft, zombie mythology, and classic heavy metal influences. Formed in 2017, the group has built a cult following through its blend of horror cinema aesthetics, dark humor, and high-energy rock performances. Drawing inspiration from classic horror films, glam metal, and traditional heavy rock, Blood Opera's music features themes of gore, monsters, the supernatural, and apocalyptic storytelling. The band has released a series of independent recordings, including fan-favourite tracks such as “Be My Victim,” “The Gates of Hell,” “A Waste of Good Suffering,” and “Killer Klowns from Outer Space,” while earning attention for elaborate visuals and character-driven performances. Known for presenting themselves as undead rockers reanimated from the grave, Blood Opera merges horror entertainment with theatrical metal, creating a distinctive identity that has helped establish them within Canada's underground hard rock and horror-metal scene.
